Important: WellnessLens is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit your personal information to our servers. All data processing happens locally on your device.

When using WellnessLens, you may provide:

• Allergen Information: Allergens you wish to avoid
• Food Label Images: Photos of food product labels you scan

Storage: This information is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. We do not have access to this data.

2.2 Information Automatically Collected

• Language Preference: Stored locally to remember your language choice
• Usage Data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to improve the app (no personal identification)

2.3 Information We DO NOT Collect

• We do NOT collect your name, email, or contact information
• We do NOT track your location
• We do NOT store your scanned images on our servers
• We do NOT create user profiles or accounts
• We do NOT sell your data to third parties

3. How We Use Your Information

The information processed locally on your device is used to:

• Analyze food labels and provide dietary compatibility information
• Detect potential allergens based on your preferences
• Suggest alternative products
• Display results in your preferred language

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 OpenAI API

We use OpenAI's GPT API to analyze ingredient lists. When you scan a label:

• The extracted text from the label is sent to OpenAI's servers for AI analysis
• OpenAI processes the request and returns the analysis
• According to OpenAI's policy, API data is NOT used to train their models (as of March 1, 2023)
• OpenAI does NOT store your data beyond the processing time (30 days for abuse monitoring)

4.2 OCR Processing

Text extraction from images is performed locally in your browser using Tesseract.js. No images are uploaded to external servers for OCR processing.

5. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your information:

• Local Storage: All personal preferences are stored only on your device
• No User Accounts: No passwords or credentials to be compromised
• HTTPS: All API communications use encrypted HTTPS connections
• Temporary Processing: Scanned images are processed in memory and not permanently stored

Note: Since data is stored in your browser's localStorage, clearing your browser data will delete your preferences. We recommend exporting important data if needed.

6. Your Privacy Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: All your data is stored locally; you can view it in your browser
• Deletion: Clear your browser data or use our in-app clear data option
• Portability: Export your preferences as JSON at any time
• Opt-Out: Simply stop using the app; no data persists on our servers

7. Children's Privacy

WellnessLens is designed for general audiences and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Parents and guardians should supervise children's use of the app.

8. International Users

WellnessLens is available globally in 6 languages. Since all data processing happens locally on your device, no data transfers across borders occur, except for API requests to OpenAI (based in the United States).

By using WellnessLens, you consent to the transfer of extracted ingredient text to OpenAI's servers for analysis purposes only.

9. Cookies and Tracking

WellnessLens does NOT use cookies for tracking. We may use localStorage to remember your language preference and dietary settings, but this data never leaves your device.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of WellnessLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
